Annecy is a large lakeside city of two parts, modern and medieval, both working together in harmony and linked by a majestic alpine lake feeding the Thiou river. Annecy has all the elements you would expect of a modern city with shopping centers, chain restaurants and familiar shops.
Annecy also has a medieval area called, La Vieille Ville (old Annecy), which is often described as the Venice of France. With the Thiou river running from the lake alongside many of its cobbled, meandering streets and pastel coloured buildings. The old Annecy boasts a huge array of quaint restaurants, bars, Shopping/ Gift & Speciality Shops and culture.
Within the old Annecy, overlooking the city you will find the medieval Château d’Annecy. Once home to the Counts of Geneva. The chateau contains a museum with regional artefact’s such as Alpine furniture and religious art, plus a natural history exhibit. Nearby is also the cities Cathedral of Saint Pierre.
Annecy is a fun day out for all the family. Cycle around the lakes edge on hire bikes, enjoy afternoon tea at the patisserie featured or James Martins French Adventure, relax in the gardens of Europe next to the lake and enjoy lake side activities.
